This project centers around a culture-based AI product inspired by Chinese history and archaeology—specifically the Sanxingdui (三星堆) civilization. The curated exhibition has toured across China, attracting an estimated 2–3 million visitors over the years. Now, the project is expanding globally, starting with a digital interactive exhibition in New York. To share the fascinating and mysterious legacy of Sanxingdui with a wider audience, the team has proposed a physical AI-powered product tailored for Western consumers, aiming to localize the experience and better meet their cultural and user needs.
Our goal was to create an experience that not only informs but emotionally engages users, allowing them to build a personal connection with the story of Sanxingdui through intuitive voice interactions, thoughtful character design, and seamless digital-physical integration.
We began by analyzing the key challenges and defining our central research question: How can we design this AI product to more effectively promote Sanxingdui culture?
